Bilfinger has continued its positive performance. Despite challenging economic conditions, revenue grew by 8 percent to around €1.1 billion in the second quarter of 2019. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes and amortization improved by 47 percent to €17 million – an increase of €5 million over the prior year. “For the eighth consecutive quarter, we have achieved organic revenue growth,” said Bilfinger CEO Tom Blades, summing up the situation. Blades also announced the refinancing of a corporate bond issue maturing in December 2019: “This testifies to the investors’ confidence in our company and we don’t intend to let them down.”

Engineering services for Abu Dhabi

VAE | NAHER OSTEN Bilfinger Tebodin Middle East has received several engineering orders from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). They include the first planning phase of a new wastewater-treatment plant. The facility is part of a refinery in Ruwais. Engineering services to modernize dust-emission control systems in two sulfur-processing plants are also part of the order package.

Bilfinger wins order from SABIC

UK | NORTHWEST EUROPE Bilfinger has received a major order from SABIC UK Petrochemicals for engineering and maintenance work at its Teesside plant. This includes services in mechanical and electrical engineering, instrumentation and control technology as well as scaffolding, insulation, corrosion protection and asbestos removal. The fouryear contract has a volume of around £50 million, or some €60 million.

Bilfinger Westcon has been awarded a contract by Anadarko Petroleum

USA | NORDAMERIKA Bilfinger Westcon has been awarded a contract by Anadarko Petroleum to perform assembly work for a new plant to be built in Latham, Colorado, that will produce cryogenic gas. This is the second order Bilfinger Westcon has received from Anadarko at this location. The plant is part of a network of natural gas pipelines in the states of Colorado and Wyoming. The contract is worth around € 25 million.

Scrubbers for North America

USA | NORTH AMERICA Bilfinger’s scrubbers are a cost-effective way to reduce sulfur emissions in ships’ flue gases and meet the environmental requirements that will take effect starting in 2020. Going forward, more than 70 ships will employ our technology. In cooperation with Bilfinger Engineering & Technologies, the E & M North America division now also offers scrubbers in North America. Presented at an event staged by the Connecticut Maritime Association attended by some 2,500 visitors, the technology attracted a great deal of interest.

Pharma technology for Russia

AUSTRIA | CONTINENTAL EUROPE Specializing in pharmaceuticals-industry plants, Bilfinger Industrietechnik Salzburg has now secured its first contract in Russia. The customer NovaMedica has tasked the company with designing three systems to produce chemical and biochemical products, emulsions and cytostatics under aseptic conditions. The production equipment will be installed in a newly built pharmaceutical complex within the Vorsino industrial park, 190 kilometers southwest of Moscow.

ABU DHABI | MIDDLE EAST Bilfinger Deutsche Babcock Emirates employees were rewarded for a job well done: a turnaround in Abu Dhabi led to a contract for additional work on two furnaces. The tight deadline brought unique challenges. Thanks to the team’s tremendous dedication, the two furnaces were completed on schedule – and with an outstanding HSEQ record totaling. 77,000 hours without a lost time accident.

UK | NORTHWEST EUROPE: Bilfinger UK, together with partners, has been commissioned with development of a strategy for the modernization of control technology in the plants of Thames Water, the UK’s largest water company. The investment volume, 15 percent of which is accounted for by the installation of automated systems, is €480 million.
